Using Hypnosis for Anxiety Control
Having to cope with an anxiety disorder can become overwhelming
for many people. For those who cannot find a way to control
their anxiety, there is always the possibility that they will
start to experience the often paralyzing effects of actual
panic attacks. Anxiety can be brought on by any number of
causes such as day to day stresses, or events which may bring
on a sense of dread like flying on an airplane. Since anxiety
is predominantly an emotional and mental issue, using hypnosis
for anxiety control can be a very effective technique.

Anxiety can cause any number of problems for the person who
cannot manage it. For example, being passed over for a
promotion by a superior who sees your anxiety as a weakness
when it comes to giving you more responsibility. Anxiety comes
in many different guises and if left untreated can lead to far
more serious issues and disabilities such as panic attacks,
phobias and obsessive compulsive disorders. In order to gain control of your anxieties,
you must be able to relax your mind and take an objective
view towards dealing with the issues that cause the
anxieties.
The use of hypnosis in the treatment of disorders such as
anxiety, obsessive compulsive disorder and phobias has been
studied for many years. It has been proven that through
hypnosis you can be taught how to relax your mind and regain
the sense of self confidence that often is at the root of most
anxiety problems. When your hypnotherapist places you in a
trance, you are actually not as some would believe asleep. You
are in fact in a state of heightened awareness that allows your
mind to focus and concentrate on what is being said to you.
When you are in this state you become unaware of what is going
on around you and with the help of your hypnotherapist can
focus in on the specific thought or issue that may be at the
root of your anxiety issues. Trained hypnotherapists use this
time to help you explore the feelings causing you pain or
discomfort. Often these feelings or memories are so carefully
hidden that you may not even know they exist. In this hypnotic
state, your mind is so focused that you may be able to view
things from a completely different angle and thus be able to
come up with a solution to the problem that has caused you so
much stress and anxiety.
There are two different ways that hypnosis can be used to help
you deal with your anxieties; it can be used as suggestion
therapy or as way for your therapist to help analyze what is
causing the anxieties you are suffering from. Suggestion
therapy is most often used as a way to help someone change the
way they behave and overcome a particular problem. For those
who suffer from OCD, suggestion therapy has proved very
successful.
When hypnosis is used for analysis, the therapist can often
help you to find the root cause of your anxiety and the
symptoms that you are suffering from. Often anxiety
started with an event in your life that was traumatic, even if
you did not realize it at the time. You may in fact have buried
the memory so deep that without the help of hypnosis you would
never remember it. Once the cause is revealed, your therapist
can then begin to help you address the problem and learn to
overcome it.
