Are you experiencing Anxiety
Attack Symptoms?
Hi and thank you for visiting Anxiety
Assist. We are here to help you if you are struggling with
anxiety attack symptoms and are searching for information
that will help you better understand what you are
experiencing and why.
Anxiety attack symptoms are what we normally experience
whenever we feel sudden that something terrible is about to
happen. The symptoms usually have a rapid onset and mark a
period of sudden and intense dread or discomfort. These
sensations usually only last for about 10 minutes and whilst
frightening are not dangerous. Sometimes you can experience a
sudden panic attack for no discernable reason.
Most people that experience an attack will end up
experiencing another attack, and those who continue to have
repeated attacks are said to have a panic
disorder.
Some of the
more common physical symptoms are pounding of the heart,
breathlessness and a feeling of lightheadedness. Everyone will
experience these sensations differently depending on a number
of factors. These
include lifestyle, diet, health, stress levels and the
severity of the attack. Other physical symptoms include
chest pains, rapid heartbeat, sweating, dizziness and
nervous tension. Sometimes the sufferer will experience body
aches, trembling, hot flushes, nausea and
weakness.
In addition to
the more obvious physical symptoms there are several possible
behavioral symptoms. These include pacing, trembling, general
restlessness, hyperventilation, pressured speech, hand
wringing, and even tapping of fingers. Finally there are
symptoms that are cognitive in their nature. These include
recurrent or obsessive thoughts, a sense that all is not
well, morbid thoughts of death and mental confusion or the
inability to concentrate.
By recognizing
these symptoms, your chances of taking early action to
alleviate and cope with an attack are far greater. Frequently,
people are convinced that that they are actually going to
suffer from a heart attack and that they will end up dying.
This never happens and the feelings that they are experiencing
are actually the unpleasant sensations of the body's reaction
to its flight or fright hormone, adrenaline. It is very
important to note that your symptoms are only exaggerated,
anxious sensations and thoughts created and sent out by an
anxious mind; they are not a threat to your wellbeing at
all.
Anxiety
attacks are nothing new and currently affect at least 6.8
million people in the U.S. alone. This figure does not
allow for the fact that many many people endure anxiety or
panic attacks and keep them totally to themselves.
There are
a number of ways to treat anxiety attacks and to cope
with the unpleasant feelings that they cause. These are
as follows: anti-depressants, sedatives, herbal remedies,
cognitive behavior therapy and self help. Some of the
most effective solutions have been derived from systems
that have been developed by people that have been long
term sufferers themselves. Do not worry, there are many
instances of people that have tried to get help, have
entirely recovered and are now living life free from the
fear of further attacks.
